Success on the Red Carpet...

Last night was the biggest night in Hollywood, The Academy Awards. Personally I find the show itself to not be nearly as exciting as the red carpet. It’s every girls’ dream to be in one of those fabulous gowns. I figured I’d post on some of my favorites of the night...

Kate Winslet was by far the best-dressed of the evening. This Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati gown is amazing. I love the off-the-shoulder style and lace detailing. It’s SO gorgeous. I just wish her hair looked better…she has GORGEOUS hair and she definitely didn’t do it justice.

Sarah Jessica Parker was another one of my favorites. This Dior dress is amazing, and I just love her all together haha. She looks beautiful and classic in this Cinderella-style dress.

I also REALLY loved this red Carolina Herrera gown that Amy Adams wore. It’s definitely different. The necklace though just does not really go at all. So that stinks, but the dress is beautiful.

Now this dress I have not made my mind up on yet. I think it’s interesting, but perhaps a little too gaudy. Thoughts? Leave it to Miley to buy this dress lol.

Overall I think everyone looked beautiful this year…not too many fashion disasters. Gotta love the red carpet!!!

  1. oh... my...
someday i will wear a stunningly gorgeous gown. and actually NEED to be wearing it. haha.

kate winslet looks divine. what a gorgeous dress. someone picked out the right thing.

sjp, well, there is nothing to say. she pulls off anything and everything... and that being haute couture makes it even more fantastic.

now is the time i disagree. i think amy adams dress is horrific. after reading your post i did my oscar dress sleuthing and while you picked a nice picture, other ones make the dress look horrendous! the red MATCHES the carpet, and that cannot be okay in anyway. and the piping on the front, it weird to say the least. and with such a low neckline and hair up, what's with the GIGANTIC over-the-top necklace? too much.

and i will tell you exactly what you should think of miley... WTF. what. is. that. i think someone raided a poor fairy, stole all her dust and it threw up on a weirdly flower-inspired dress. and then there's the belt... not the only waist cinching belt of the evening but easily one of the most awkward.

with that said, i think there were some other very well dressed women of the evening. tina fey pulled off her zac posen flawlessly and alicia keys looked fabulous in that lovely lilac color. i also adored angelina's simple black, plunging sweetheart dress. i think she looked amazing (and of course brad in his tux doesn't hurt either!). and that girl from slumdog millionaire, first oscar red carpet right? she picked well, love the asymmetry, love the sleeve, love it all.

on a sad note, halle berry and vanessa hudgens (puke) both wore marchesa, and i was so disappointed! i LOVE marchesa gowns normally, these just didn't hit the mark.

finally, i'm shocked that we didn't even acknowledge beyonce's mess of a gown, made by mommy dearest! what a shitshow.

  2. Perhaps I should follow with a "worst of" post lol. Yes I saw Beyonce's that was horrific. And I agree about tina fey she did look great. Good call about adams matching the carpet, didn't think of that lol.

Maybe one day we should buy fabulous dresses and just wear them to work for shits and giggles. hahahahahaha.
